Mission statement on Facebook:
The Brookston Lions Club, chartered on December 13, 1988, is a service organization working to benefit the community.
Monthly meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month, 7 p.m., at J&J’s Roadhouse, State Road 43 N, Brookston, IN. The Brookston Lions Club is proud of its community support.
Our funds address needs such as eye exams and glasses, hearing tests and hearing aids for those in need. Our club also provides vision screening for students in Frontier Elementary School. We contribute to the Leader Dogs for the Blind training facility in Michigan.
Funding is provided to various local organizations and individuals such as Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, high school students participating in Indiana Boys State and Girls State activities at the statehouse, scholarships for graduating seniors, and to Frontier Schools to facilitate the purchase of Smart Board technology for classroom use.
Brookston Lions work with area sororities to provide an Easter Egg Hunt for the community.
Fundraisers include:
- Bingo every week, Wednesday, 6:30 p.m., at J&J's Roadhouse Restaurant.
- Ring the Carnival Striker Bells at the White County 4H Fair.
- Carnival Striker Bells at the Brookston Apple-Popcorn Festival.
- Dinners, as needed, for special projects.
